The Fighting in Europe - 1941
With France defeated in the summer of 1940, Germany ruled western Europe, with the exception of Great Britain (and the neutral countries of Spain and Switzerland). They set their sights East, and prepapred for the fateful invasion of the Soviet Union. The liklehood of an invasion of Great Britain became less and less likely, and Yugoslavia and Greece were targeted for attack in advance of the ultimate drive on Russia, while Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria joined an alliance with Germany and Italy. The year ended with the German Army stopped before Moscow, and the entrance of the United States into the war.
