Attacking and Defending the Reich - The Air War 1940-1945

The strategic bombing campaign of World War II began with the dropping of leaflets over Germany in 1939 and culminated in a multi-year assault on Germany's cities and industrial facilities. It was an ongoing battle between the RAF, USAAF and Luftwaffe that resulted in massive casualties in the air and hundreds of thousands of civilian casualties on the ground. It was amongst the longest campaigns of the war and resulted in the mass destruction of Germany.
